Leo Full Moon and Pluto Moves into Aquarius

The really big news as to what’s happening in the sky right now is the sign change by Pluto into Aquarius. You may remember in March of 2023 Pluto entered Aquarius for the first time in our lifetime. But retrograde motion returned it back into Capricorn in June of 2023.

Now we experience this shift again into Aquarius for a longer stay. There will be one more time that Pluto will retrograde back into Capricorn later this year September 2 and then Pluto moves back into Aquarius on November 19, and will stay there until 2043.

This is a significant shift for the world. For you personally, it is activating your chart if you have placements in any of the fixed signs Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio in 0 to 3 degrees. Zero degrees will feel it the strongest.

Pluto in your natal chart will be the same as others in your generation unless you were born when it was changing signs - like the time period we are in right now. As Pluto moves slowly through the zodiac, it will eventually make contact with something in your chart.

Pluto transits bring up themes having to do with power and great change. Power can show up as power over, feeling powerless and the experience of empowerment. Great change can be difficult or it can be welcome, it all depends on your personal situation.

Those of you who have been experiencing Pluto active your chart in Capricorn or any of the cardinal signs, including Cancer, Libra, and Aries in the last degrees (28-29), you are wrapping up the experience and many of you will probably be relieved to hear that.

Leo Full Moon

We have a Leo full moon coming up on Thursday, January 25, which means the Moon and Sun are in opposing signs. The sun's light shines directly on the Moon exposing the most amount of light possible at the exact time of the full moon.

The Sun is traveling through Aquarius, the sign opposite Leo, and remember that Pluto just entered the sign Aquarius.

This is a potent Leo full moon that carries forth some of that Capricorn energy. The sun met Pluto in Capricorn just before moving into Aquarius. And at the full moon, The sun is just a few degrees from Pluto, but now in the sign of Aquarius. Note that Capricorn and Aquarius are both Saturn signs.

Under the rulership of Saturn, there are lessons to be learned, boundaries to be held and respected and strategies to be implemented. Saturn will always be about these things. As a planet moves through a sign, it is the expression of the planetary energy that changes to the qualities of the sign.

Aquarius is an air sign that is social, objective, and somewhat aloof. It’s the sign farthest away from the Sun’s own sign of Leo, it’s quite out of its comfort zone as it expresses its natural vibe of vitality and essence of ‘me’.

Across from the Sun, the full moon in Leo, the Sun’s own sign, reminds us that our own self-expression is important and not to be overlooked or set aside.

A full moon asks us to look at two sides of a situation. In this case, Leo wants us to be able to express ourselves and allow our inner passion and creativity to flow. In contrast, Aquarius wants to consider the greater good. Both signs can be incredibly social, one is more self-focused - Leo, while Aquarius is known to be more other-focused.

That said, Aquarius is known for being independent and marching to its own drum. Freedom is important and solitude is often welcome unless the mind is stimulated. Leo loves to be amongst others accepting admiration and recognition.

You can see how these two energies are two sides of the same coin. They are archetypal as well. You could think of Leo as the artist, actor, performer, and entertainer who is passionate and creative. They love to express themselves and tend to be comfortable in the spotlight.

Aquarius is the scientist, activist, humanitarian, advocate, and innovator. They like to create ideas that impact the masses but may not necessarily feel comfortable in the crowd. They need mental stimulation and social contact that is meaningful to their ideals.

Both are fixed signs and can indicate finding awareness around something stuck or having difficulty seeing a different point of view than your own. With the shift away from Capricorn into Aquarius, a new energy vibe is setting in. Where Capricorn may want to win at all costs, Aquarius wants change that impacts the masses.

Think about where Leo and Aquarius energy is showing up in your life and look at your chart for the houses that occupy these two signs. That will shed light on what is activated in your personal natal chart.

Planetary Line Up at the Leo Full Moon

The other planets are making their own statements at the Leo full moon. It’s interesting because the other five traditional or personal planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are making harmonious aspects with each other.

Even though you could be experiencing fixed or stuck energy with the Leo Full Moon and Aquarius Sun, there is an underlying vibration of harmony that is going on at the same time.

These placements can help support actions you are taking toward what is important in your life right now. The five planets making harmonious aspects are:

Venus in Capricorn sextiles Saturn in Pisces, and Saturn sextiles Jupiter in Taurus. Mercury and Mars are also in Capricorn, making a very wide sextile to Saturn by degree.

Venus is about relationships, Mercury is about communication and Mars is about taking action.

These three planets are in a harmonious relationship with Saturn, the planet of structure, strategy, and boundary setting. That’s why this is an auspicious time for pushing forward your important priorities. Especially around long-term goals, creating and implementing strategy, and focusing your determination.

Venus, Mercury, and Mars are in earth sign Capricorn and make a harmonious trine aspect with Jupiter. Jupiter is the planet about vision, beliefs, philosophy, and knowledge, and is associated with where you expand.

During the full moon phase, there is a flow of ideas and energy to tap into when it comes to taking action toward the manifestation of your vision - your goals. Saturn helps bring realistic strategy into the picture. It’s like having the brake and gas pedal there for you to use as needed to speed up or slow down what you are working on.

In the sky, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are all on the same page working together in a Capricorn way. There is a goal-oriented focus, determination, and strategic energy to tap into with these three planets working in harmony with Jupiter and Saturn. What you start now will incorporate this energy into its own birth chart.

Jupiter is also in a tight T-square to the Sun and Moon - that means it squares both of them at the full moon. Jupiter squares aren’t typically treated as difficult as a square from say, Pluto, Mars, or Saturn. It may kick up some awareness and have you considering two sides of something. Click here for my Houses Blog.

Jupiter is traveling through Taurus, another fixed sign. This could represent a time period where stuck energy is broken up so you can grow and expand. But sometimes the experience of breaking up stuck energy can be uncomfortable or unwanted. It depends on each person’s situation.

We could generally say that those with a lot of fixed energy in their chart may struggle more with change than those with a lot of cardinal or mutable energy. Remember the fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.

While stuck energy may become more apparent during the full moon, Jupiter here can help with finding practical solutions. The Leo Full Moon is focused on what feels good for the self, the Sun’s position reminds us that we don’t live alone. We live among other living beings and how we behave impacts others.

With Jupiter in Taurus trine to Mars, Mercury, and Venus in Capricorn, there is a lot of Earth energy. What you put your effort into now can have a fantastic long-term payoff as Capricorn is one of Saturn’s signs and is associated with longevity.

A steady pace toward long-term goals is highlighted during this time. It’s worth your while to invest time, energy, and creativity into your most important goals.

Take caution and be aware as Uranus trines Mars and Mercury. On a positive note, you can tap into brilliant and practical ideas. What can be challenging is how unexpected circumstances can easily come up that throw you off track.

If something comes up out of the blue and throws you off track, dust yourself off, get back up, and keep at it. It’s just as likely you could have something great come up out of the blue that helps whatever priorities you are focused on.

The theme of this Leo Full Moon is to ‘Express Yourself and Get Something Done!’

Remember that your personal self-expression is important, it’s a Leo full moon. Leo creativity is how you define your creativity. Don’t let anyone else tell you how creativity lives inside of you.

Direct Forward Motion at the Leo Full Moon

As we move into the last part of January and into February, we continue to have all planets moving direct. With the harmonious aspects in place, and the Jupiter T-square activating the full moon, there is enough active energy to get or keep something going. And enough Earth energy to stay practical, determined, and productive.

To work with the flow of the forward-moving energy of this full moon, take action toward what is important to you. This productive type of energy has been present since the new year.

If you feel like you have been making a lot of progress on something, keep going. If you have had a lazy start to the new year, there is still time to tap into some great productivity. Subscribe Here.
