Important Aspects at the Aquarius Full Moon - August 19, 2024

As we approach the Aquarius Full Moon on Monday, August 19, 2024, the celestial landscape is charged with potent energies, especially with several significant aspects. This Full Moon is marked by two dynamic T-squares, a retrograde Mercury, and other interactions that create a complex tapestry of energies.

Sun Conjunct Mercury Retrograde and Mercury Opposite the Aquarius Full Moon

At the heart of this Full Moon is a conjunction between the Sun and Mercury retrograde, both opposing the Aquarius Moon. Mercury retrograde, known for its influence on communication, travel, and technology, encourages us to reflect on past actions and decisions.

Mercury Retrograde Cycle

  • July 17: Pre-shadow phase

  • August 5: Retrograde at 4.06 Virgo

  • July 28: Direct at 21.25 Leo

  • September 12: Post-shadow phase ends

During this time, the Sun's conjunction with Mercury retrograde emphasizes the need to rethink how we balance personal ambitions (Sun in Leo) with collective responsibilities (Aquarius Moon). The opposition to the Full Moon creates a push-and-pull dynamic, where we may feel torn between our individual desires and the needs of the community or group.

This retrograde is an ideal time for reassessment and reconsidering strategies and communication styles. It's a moment to revisit unresolved issues and to seek clarity in areas where we may have previously overlooked details.

The Mercury retrograde influence suggests we should be cautious with decisions, as misunderstandings and delays are more likely during this period.

Mars Moving Away from Conjunction with Jupiter and Jupiter's Square with Saturn

Mars, the planet of action and drive, is moving away from its recent conjunction with Jupiter. This separation marks a shift from this conjunction's expansive and sometimes impulsive energy.

Jupiter remains in a partile (exact) square with Saturn, creating tension between the desire for growth and expansion (Jupiter) and the need for discipline, structure, and realism (Saturn).

With Mars still close by, heated negotiations may go from assertive to aggressive. This aspect suggests that while there may be opportunities for progress, they will require careful planning and a disciplined approach.

The square between Jupiter and Saturn can also manifest as a fear of change or resistance to new ideas, particularly as we navigate the unpredictable energies of the Full Moon.

The Fixed T-Square: Sun and Moon Square Uranus

One of the most striking aspects of this Full Moon is the exact fixed T-square between the Sun in Leo, the Moon in Aquarius, and Uranus in Taurus. Uranus, the planet of surprises, rebellion, and innovation, forms the apex of this T-square, injecting a sense of unpredictability and tension into the mix.

This alignment brings "weird vibes," with the potential for unexpected events or disruptions that challenge our sense of stability.

The fixed nature of this T-square suggests that there may be resistance to change, as the energies of Leo, Aquarius, and Taurus are all known for their stubbornness and determination.

However, Uranus's influence cannot be ignored, and it pushes for breakthroughs, even if they come in the form of sudden or disruptive changes.

Venus, which is currently in Virgo, has Uranus in sight as she moves into a harmonious trine with it. This aspect brings a softer, more cooperative energy to whatever surprises Uranus has in store.

While the fixed T-square can create tension, Venus’s trine to Uranus offers a chance to find common ground, foster strange alliances, or bring peace—but often at a cost.

The Mutable T-Square: Venus Opposite Saturn and Square Jupiter

In addition to the fixed T-square, we have a mutable T-square involving Venus in Virgo, Saturn in Pisces, and Jupiter in Gemini.

Venus opposes Saturn, creating tension between our desires for perfection and practicality (Venus in Virgo) and Saturn's disciplined, structured approach, which must express itself through the more fluid and boundary-dissolving sign of Pisces.

This opposition squares Jupiter in Gemini, which adds expansive but often scattered energy to the mix. Mars, in Gemini, is still active within this T-square, even as it moves away.

The mutable energy of this configuration suggests that negotiations are on the table, with all ideas being considered. However, Gemini's scattered nature and Virgo's practical concerns can create delays, and their ruler, Mercury, is retrograde, adding confusion to the mix.

Negotiations during this time can be assertive or even aggressive, but there is potential for making headway if the right people are involved and there is a willingness to compromise. The mutable signs encourage adaptability and flexibility, which are key to navigating the complex energies of this Full Moon.
