Gemini New Moon

Gemini New Moon Date and Time

10 June 2021 3:53am Pacific Time, US 6:53am East Coast, US 12:53pm Rome, Italy 19 degrees Gemini

Gemini New Moon Overview and Mercury Retrograde

The upcoming Gemini New Moon has a social and reflective quality to it. This whole month may be a bit more subdued with Mercury retrograde, that is what gives it the reflective quality. You can get all the Mercury retrograde dates for 2021 here.

The Mercury Retrograde is significant because the planet Mercury is super close to the degree of the new moon. What that means is that the Sun, Moon, and the planet of Mercury are all hanging out in the same space in the sky at the same time.

So the energy of the Gemini New Moon is mixed together with Mercury. We can’t consider the new moon energy separate from the retrograde because by astrological sign and degree, they are all touching each other.

You may find yourself wanting to reach out to friends and family you haven’t spoken to in a while. Or you may want to both socialize more, and take more time for yourself, so balance is key in how you plan your calendar this month.

It’s likely you’ll want to reconnect with friends and family who are your closest and most trusted from the past. If there is anything unresolved with people in your life, these things may come to the forefront. Now is a great time to work through those things.

Gemini New Moon and Solar Eclipse

This month’s Gemini New Moon coincides with a solar eclipse. You may remember we had a lunar eclipse two weeks ago and that’s because eclipses always come in pairs, and always with the new and full moon lunations.

The thing with eclipses is that they make a potent lunation. What is important to remember is that not everyone is going to feel the superpower of the eclipse. In order to feel the super power of an eclipse, it needs to happen near or on a part of your astrology chart.

Your chart is the blueprint of the sky at the time you were born. That’s why some people have significant things that happen at the time of the eclipse, and others go through it like it’s just another Thursday.

If your birthday is a few days before, to a few days after, June 10, you are likely to feel the eclipse’s energy more strongly. This applies also to Virgo’s born a few days before, to a few days after, September 12, Pisces around March 10, and Sagittarius around December 12.

If you want to learn more about eclipses in general, read about it here. If you don’t have a copy of your birth chart, get it free at this website.

Type of Eclipse and Visibility

The eclipse will be annular, which means you will see a ring of sunlight around the moon. Weather permitting, the full eclipse will be visible in parts of Russia, Greenland, and northern Canada. Those in Northern Asia, Europe, and the United States will see a partial eclipse. You can get more eclipse details on visibility for your location at the timeanddate.com website.

About the Gemini New Moon

This is a social Gemini New Moon this month. The sign Gemini is about communication, and lots of it. Mercury is retrograde right now, and Mercury is the planet who is at home in the planet Gemini, or rules over that sign. This combination is signaling an energetic focus on communication, socializing, and connection. At the same time, we are being asked to slow down, reflect, and review parts of our lives.

Some of us may have relationship issues from the past that need to be reviewed, discussed, and resolved. Others may have something related to the past come up from other areas of life like career, kids, finances, siblings, or education. The area of life activated in your horoscope can be further understood by knowing where the sign Gemini falls in your chart.

New Moons are about starting something new, taking something to the next level or phase, setting intentions for what you want to accomplish over the next month, and taking some rest and quiet time.

The energy of this particular new moon opens an opportunity to clear up misunderstandings from the past using your words. Gemini is one of the most social signs of the zodiac and they are known for their intelligent use of words.

If there is something that you have felt needed to be talked through for some time, now is a good time to do so. This can work both leading up to the New Moon and after. If you are having this conversation before the New Moon, focus on what needs to be let go of to make room for something new.

At the start of the New Moon phase and for the two weeks after is a time to start building something new. To make reparations, and to put into action resolutions that you have made with your relationships. This pertains to any type of relationship, intimate, family, work, and friends.

Gemini is youthful and playful at heart, no matter what age. Bring a childlike curiosity and enthusiasm to any social connection and you will have more fun. It can also be beneficial to bring this attitude to resolution oriented conversations to foster a goodwill atmosphere.

At this Gemini New Moon you may want to reach out to friends you haven’t seen in a while. If you do feel the pull to connect with those from your past, reach out. There is a good chance they are thinking of you too.

If you are in the mood to try new things and meet new people, not everything may turn out as you expected, but it is sure to be interesting. Remember it’s a new moon, a dark moon, and this calls for balance between socializing and peace, quiet, and rest time. The retrograde is asking you to spend some time reflecting, finishing projects you have already started, and resolving lingering things from the past to make space for the future.

Remember to write down your intentions in a journal. If you don’t have a journal, this is a great month to start one. The Gemini New Moon is sure to shower you with some verbal gifts you want to get down on paper.

Mind the Mind Chatter with Purposeful Reflection

You may find your mind full of chatter with the Gemini energy and Mercury Retrograde. An active mind can benefit from purposeful reflections. To do that, consider any memories that keep coming up and take notice of thoughts filling your mind and the emotions that come from them.

  1. Are there people you are thinking about?

  2. Situations you are replaying in your head?

  3. A nagging feeling that something needs resolved?

The current astrological sky is providing a good time to reflect purposely on the above. The things we resist tend to persist and this is what purposeful reflection can help break through. Using a mindfulness approach is the best way to dissolve some of these residual things that seem to linger in the background of our thoughts, emotions, dreams or memories.

Using a mindfulness approach means accepting the feelings and emotions that come up. Permitting yourself to feel them and acknowledge them without self-judgment. And knowing that while you can’t change the past, you can choose how you respond in the future. This can be a good time to reframe the past with a self-compassionate filter. Rather than focus on something negative or people that hurt you, focus on nurturing that hurt part of you that persists.

You aren’t changing the past, but seeing it through a new lens or with a different perspective. Acknowledging it’s place in your history that has contributed to your growth as a person, your self-development. What you learned vs how you failed. What skills developed from past difficulties and past successes.

Reflecting on the past can also give you a boost. It can remind you how far you have come and how hard you have worked to get to where you are. What new people have you met, who have you left behind. Is there someone you want to reach out to? Has someone from the past reached out to you? How did you feel about that? What past successes do you want to hold in your reflection? Have you given yourself enough credit for what you have achieved?

What is important in mindfulness is not to spend too much time looking backward or forward. Being present in the moment is a treasure. Having goals is smart, and understanding difficulties from the past takes some purposeful reflection. Under this new moon and with Mercury retrograde is a good time to engage in this purposeful reflection. Remember that balance is key. Schedule some time in purposeful reflection, and then get back to the present moment.

Every month I co-host a show called Natural Health and Astrology with Health Coach and Naturopath Annabelle Fraser. We talk about the emotional quality of the New Moon and how to use essential oils to work with the lunar energy. For this months Gemini New Moon our topic is ‘Minding the Mind Chatter with Purposeful Reflection’ and it airs on Facebook Friday, June 4, 2021.

This essential oil recommendation we talk about on the show, and the description below is from Annabelle. You can purchase the doTerra oils from her if you wish. To participate in the monthly live show, join the Facebook group Natural Health Italy. Or you can watch the replay, which is available on my Astrology Facebook page.

Litsea Essential Oil

Litsea essential oil is the oil of manifestation. It helps us get out of our own way, re-connect with our inner voice and trust in our inner wisdom. Litsea is an evergreen tree and its fruit produces a lemon-like essential oil. It is native to East Asia.

This is exactly what’s needed during this Gemini New Moon. Litsea invites us to pause and become aware of what clouds and distracts our internal clarity and make the required changes to live in greater alignment.

We can inhale it from the bottle, diffuse, or dilute 1-3 drops with a carrier oil and apply to forehead, temples or back of the neck.

Gemini New Moon Ideas

  1. Call a friend and/or family member you haven’t talked to in a while.

  2. Hold a difficult conversation you have been avoiding.

  3. Include air in your new moon ritual, like rent a convertible or take a bike ride, or walk in fresh air.

  4. Socialize. If you can’t see people in person, set up some Zoom calls.

  5. Do your new moon ritual with a best buddy or partner.

  6. Do a purposeful reflection before you set your new moon intentions and spend extra time journaling.

  7. Read a book that has sparked your curiosity, and/or visit a bookstore.

  8. Go to a spoken word event like poetry, book reading, or a live comedy.

  9. Gemini is a curious sign, think about what arouses your curiosity and spend some time learning about it.

  10. Imagine you are a kid, it’s your birthday, and your parents will take you anywhere you want to go in town. What would you do, where would you go? Now go and do it!

  11. Organize a game night with your friends.

  12. If you are a writer, this is a good time to get your thoughts written. Any pieces from the past that were started but not finished would benefit from being further developed at this time.

  13. Spend some quality time writing in your journal or diary.

Wrap Up

The energy of this Gemini New Moon will beam down on us a mix of desire to be social, a need for more rest and relaxation time, reflections on the past, and clever verbal skills.

You may need to mind your mind chatter more often than usual, try to stay connected with your body and rest as needed. Your social connection needs may increase during this time and you may want to reach out to friends and family you haven’t talked to in a while. It’s a really great time to re-connect with people from your past.

You may also be able to knock out some projects collecting dust. If you don’t already have a moon journal, this is a great time to start one. It’s always a great time to start a journal, really, and now you have the extra Gemini boost. So get your journal and pen and get to writing down all the fab things you want to remember.

Even the not so fab things are important to write about because someday you will reflect back on your journal and realize how far you have developed yourself. Journals are one of the most therapeutic, self-nurturing, and renewing tools you can gift to yourself.

I hope you have a new moon full of great words, reflections that bring you joy, and closure on things from the past that needed resolving.
