Sagittarius Full Moon Overview
This month’s full moon is in the dynamic, outgoing, and easy going zodiac sign Sagittarius. It’s a good time to socialize, dream big, and go for what you want. There is a spiritual component of this sign that desires heart felt alignment between your values and actions.
This moves into the area of spirituality from a broad and non dogmatic sense. It is of a personal nature and can vary widely between individuals. It’s about finding which way your growth compass is pointing, and taking action toward moving in that direction.
You may feel inspired to make a vision quest and enjoy the experience more than the destination. It is a time to evaluate your values and if they are in alignment with how you are living your life.
Sagittarius, the sign the Moon travels through this full moon, is a fire sign. While Gemini, the sign the Sun is traveling through, is an air sign. Air fuels fire. It is dynamic, active, and social. There should be a spark in the air this week and more wind beneath your wings.
The one caution is that there can be a tendency to over do it. Your best approach is to pace yourself. This full moon may keep you busy with two or more things. Gemini is a dualistic sign, and it is involved with the full moon because of the Sun traveling through it.
Whether you are managing multiple things, or socializing with multiple people, this full moon is likely to be a busy week. Socializing and networking is a great way to soak up the full moon energy. You will enjoy it the most by surrounding yourself with those who have similar values as your own.
Sagittarius Full Moon and the June 21 Solstice
Nature provides us with a plethora of symbolism for understanding the human experience. The solstices and equinoxes are about balance and equilibrium, and the extreme ends of imbalance. The solstices represent the extreme ends through the most and least hours of sun, while equinoxes represent balance of light and dark.
Consider the solstices through the northern and southern hemispheres through the opposite seasons in the different hemispheres. The human experience mirrors this process of balance as we move through life constantly moving in and out of balance.
Balance can go to the extremes of over doing and under doing. Just like the light of the sun is at its longest or shortest days. One side metaphorically stretches to one extreme, and the other side, the other extreme. Once they reach their farthest points at the solstices, they return on their journey back to the center until they reach the equinox balance point.
Just like our human existence, the equinoxes are not a stationary point. They represent the act of coming into balance and falling out of balance. The longest day can metaphorically be likened with over doing it, overextending yourself, giving too much, and exhaustion.
The shortest day can metaphorically be likened with apathy, disengagement with life, lacking motivation, and lacking the inspiration to draw up the energy to do something about it. If someone gets stuck in either of the extreme end, it is very difficult to live a peaceful life. This extreme imbalance is present in addiction and abusive situations.
When either hemisphere reaches a solstice point, it is a reminder to get back to center. It’s like universal bumpers or reminders that you have gone too far from center and need to re-balance something in your life. When humans experience this extreme imbalance, like in addiction or abusive situations, it is important to find the way back to balance.
That is much easier said than done, and to discuss how to do that is outside of the scope of this blog. If you or someone you know are experiencing addiction or an abusive situation, please reach out for help.
Now think about the equator, the imaginary line running through the middle of the earth, between the poles. This area experiences the least amount of imbalance between light and darkness. As you move to the extreme north and south poles, they see the most extremes of imbalance.
I am not suggesting that the individuals living near the equator line personally experience greater or lesser balance. I am suggesting the weather there experiences the least amount of change. There is a more stable and predictable environment year round. It’s a metaphor that can help put perspective in our lives.
If you have similar weather all year round, your lifestyle is different from those who experience the different seasons, or even the extremes of weather at either pole.
This metaphor is a great way to look at the human experience through nature’s view. The solstices and equinoxes are nature’s reminders to check in on your personal equilibrium. Where are you living in extremes and where are you living in balance?
The upcoming Sagittarius full moon has a vibe tilted toward going out and being social with friends, taking action, and experiencing things for the fun of it. The caution is not to exhaust yourself, over do, or overindulge. Especially if you struggle with addiction.

Sagittarius is the kind of energy that wants to experience for the sake of experiencing. It is not a cautious or grounded sign. It loves freedom, independence, and freedom. Oh did I say that twice. Sagittarius will take a double scoop of independence every day of the year.
Enjoy some freedom for the pursuit of happiness. Be careful not to step on others in the process. Generally Sag is kind, fun, and caring. Sometimes in the fever of experiencing, it can forget about the consequences on others. Pacing yourself will help.
It is possible that some of you will feel overwhelmed by all the energy and swiftness that can come with the dynamic nature of this Sagittarius full moon. Like you just crossed over the top of a roller coaster hill and are barreling down the slope. It is important that you pace yourself and plan ahead.
There are likely to be crowds if you are in a city or tourist location. If you are in the northern hemisphere, you could experience a heat wave. Be prepared. If you are in the southern hemisphere, you could experience too much cold which undermines the desire to get out and have fun.
While thinking and planning ahead is not a Sagittarius thing. Astrology is here to help you prepare for what is coming. Do a little pre-prep for what you are going to do this week and you will be super happy you did. And well prepared.
Sagittarius Full Moon and Personal Growth
The time of the Sagittarius full moon and week following is a good time to engage in Sag type things. Like expansion of an idea or project, pushing forward toward your goals, and heightening your spiritual awareness.
Live for the experience more than the results. If higher education is in your future, or you are in the process of getting a university degree, some planning and visioning could benefit you now.
Spiritual growth is a Sag thing. Try to include activities during this full moon phase that speak to your soul. You may actually hike up a mountain, or seek a vision quest of the mind. You may engage in a yoga retreat, or visit a temple. Do your version of spiritual growth.
Sagittarius is associated with the color purple and the crown chakra. The crown chakra is about your higher consciousness. The part of you that is unseen and interacts with the things unseen and unknown, but yet you believe in.
Let yourself travel to the highest consciousness of your mind. Where your most loving self exists, and where you can get in touch with what truly brings meaning, purpose, and joy in your life.
Below I have some more specific ideas for what you can do during this week’s full moon phase.
Astrology and Essential Oils
Sagittarius Full Moon Theme: Expand and Experience
The full moon video series that I co-host with Annabelle Fraser is available now. Annabelle is a naturopath and gut health specialist who is trained in utilizing essential oils to support our emotions.
In the video we talk about the energetics of the Sagittarius full moon, essential oils that help support our emotions, inspirational quotes, and things to do during a full moon ritual.
This month Annabelle recommends Basil essential oil. Basil oil is the oil of renewal and is a great oil to keep on hand to help you come back to feeling rested, energized, strengthened, and rejuvenated.
Since this Full Moon has a lot of positive and energizing qualities to it, it may be that we over-do it and start to feel overwhelmed or drained.
It is a helpful essential oil for recovery from negative habits and can assist in giving up false stimulants because it provides more natural energy. It has many properties like antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, and a decongestant.
It is an excellent topical essential oil for wasp and insect stings, and snake bites. For essential oils produced for internal consumption, it is an excellent addition to your cooking pantry. Remember to consult your physician before using for medical purposes.
You can contact Annabelle for purchasing doTerra essential oils from anywhere in the world.
Check out this month’s Sagittarius full moon video on YouTube, my new channel. If you subscribe, you can be notified when the videos are posted. They usually go up a day to a few hours before the email goes out if you want to get the information sooner. You can still catch the video on Facebook if you prefer.
