The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini is coming up at the end of November 2020. To understand how an Eclipse super charges a Full Moon, let’s break it down into bite size pieces. We will first talk about the Eclipse. Then we will consider the signs involved in the Eclipse. And lastly what is happening around this particular Eclipse.

Can I see the Full Moon Eclipse?
First it’s important to know that a Lunar Eclipse means the Earth is casting the shadow on the Moon as it is between the Sun and Moon. Therefore, it is the Moon that is Eclipsed. In a Solar Eclipse, the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, and that is when some or all of the Sun eclipsed. You will see this Lunar Eclipse at night, when the Moon is out, if it happens over your night time sky. It happens after midnight, so we are talking Sunday night, but technically on Monday, November 30.
Note that this is a Penumbral Eclipse, meaning that the outer shadow of the Earth moves over the Moon, not a partial or total Lunar Eclipse. The Moon will not go dark, it will just become a little darker from the shadow of Earth. If you didn’t know it was a Lunar Eclipse, you may not even notice the difference.
The Full Moon Eclipse is visible for those living in both North and South America, Australia, and a large part of Asia. Pending a clear sky of course. Below is a link for a website that shows a map of where the Eclipse is visible and the times from beginning to end, which you can get based on your time zone.

A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse
There are two types of eclipses, a Solar or Lunar Eclipse. A Solar Eclipse only happens on a New Moon and a Lunar Eclipse only happens on a Full Moon. Since this one is a Lunar Eclipse, let’s talk about the symbology and meaning behind this Full Moon.
A Full Moon always means the Sun and Moon are opposite each other in the sky. They are looking directly at each other, like when a person is in front of you, face to face. Not off to the side, but exactly 180 degrees opposite.
The Moon is in full light receiving the most sunlight she can. At the Full Moon the lunar cycle is at its peak, a culmination, a perfect ripeness. When you think of anything that has a beginning, middle and end, this is the middle part.
When the Moon is receiving full light, it indicates she has reached the end of her growth (waxing) cycle. She has gained wisdom, earned experience, and is ready to disperse what she has learned and eventually release it all as she grows dark (waning) toward the end of the cycle which completes at the next New Moon.
Symbolically the Full Moon is a time of release. A time when choices must be made, voluntarily or not, from events happening outside our control, or situational. The Eclipse supersizes the energy. Eclipses can sometimes bring unexpected surprises that lead to needed change.
The Eclipse is a disruption to the normal amount of light you would see reflected by the Moon. This disruption of light is symbolic of why Eclipses can forewarn of a significant event or happening.
With this supercharged Eclipse multiplying the effect of the Full Moon, you may experience a sense of adjustment, crisis, closure, and/or a need to make a choice. Remember you are unlikely to experience the full intensity of an Eclipse unless it triggers something in your chart by sign and degree.
In Astrology the Moon represents our emotions, need for security, instincts, habits and response system. When the light of the Sun is shining on the Moon, things hidden may come to light. There can be a feeling of discomfort, of being pushed to look at stuff we would rather not see within ourselves. The Eclipses magnifies these intense feelings and asks you to look at the shadow parts of yourself that are exposed by the Sun.
As we become aware of the things tucked away in our shadow side as shown by light of the Sun, we are asked to let go and relinquish control over what is no longer useful in our lives. You can do this by surrendering to the process, or fight it kicking and screaming. The latter being a more unpleasant experience. There is a fated element to whatever happens under an Eclipse.
Gemini Nature of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse
This month’s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is in the sign of Gemini. Not all Gemini’s will experience the full intensity of the Eclipse. It is most potent in the exact degree of 8 Gemini and the 3-5 degrees around it. At the bottom you will find a link to a site that will calculate your chart for free if you don’t already have it.
Gemini is an air sign, a lover of socializing and communication. I have an abundance of Gemini’s in my life, they have the gift of gab which I love. There is never awkward silence with Gemini’s as they always have something witty or interesting to say.
A Moon Gemini chatters away and finds security in conversation with others. Without intelligent communication and connection with others, Gemini Moons are lost and lonely. Gemini is the sign of the Twins. There are two sides to Gemini and the spotlight is on them. Are there two sides at odds within yourself? Do you have a shadow twin you keep hidden in the dark? Your dark side will be in the light at this time, you will have to face it whether you want to or not.
The spotlight comes from the Sun, in Gemini’s opposite sign Sagittarius, which we will talk more about below. Sag is asking Gemini to find purpose in all that chatter. The message is that talk can be just noise if there is no meaning behind the words.
Those with planets in Gemini, and feeling this energy strongly, are being asked to look inside with an open mind. To use their immense intelligence, quick wit, and logic to understand what has grown old and stale, and toss it out.
This is no easy task, and sometimes the universe serves up situations that make this happen forcibly. But it doesn’t have to feel that way if you can take an honest, realistic and rational approach to how you respond to what happens. You will find yourself having grown into a stronger you after this energy has passed. It can take 6 months or even a year for the energy to play out.
Any Full Moon comes with an intensity of emotions, and according to doctors an increase in emergency room visits. This one is more potent because of the Eclipse. The reason Eclipses are superpowered New/Full Moons is because the light of either the Sun or Moon is diminished.
When one of our lights is diminished, that is our Sun and Moon in our charts, it’s our lifeline, our vitality. Think about it, your vitality in astrology is represented by the Sun and Moon. We live because the Sun provides life giving light, and the Moon reflects this life giving life. When the light is taken away or altered, it affects our life significantly.
That is why Eclipses are so potent from an astrological perspective. But we Astrologers didn’t make this up theoretically, this goes back thousands of years to the ancients who discovered and developed Astrology by following the movement of the stars in the sky.
The ancients (like Babylonians ancient) wrote down and tracked planetary events that happened in the sky, and learned that eclipses were one of the most important signals for something major to happen. Interesting stuff, right.
Sagittarius Sun Nature of the Full Moon
We can’t talk about the Phase of the Moon without looking at the relationship between the Sun and Moon. The Sun shines its light in this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse through the sign of Sagittarius, which is opposite of Gemini.
If Gemini is social, objective and a chatterbox, then Sagittarius is idealistic, philosophical, and blunt. If you know any Sagittarians, you probably have experienced their innocent but very blunt honesty. Brutal, painful, and truthful honesty. Gemini’s can chat you up for hours about anything. Sagittarians don’t want to be bothered with hours of gossipy chat, they would rather engage in deep philosophical debate with lofty ideals far reaching goals.
If a Sagittarius can’t have a meaningful or philosophical interaction, then they prefer to be off on their “easy go lucky” path and find some fun, sport, or party. Even better if there is some adventure, horse riding or life inspiring activity involved. Freedom and independence are keywords for Sagittarians.
The Sagittarius sunlight illuminating the Gemini Moon is asking the Moon to use her Gemini high intelligence to raise her vibration to a spiritual level. To take her thoughts and opinions to a greater spiritual level that is meaningful and inspirational. Sag may have lofty goals beyond what us mere humans can achieve, but that is the polarity between the two signs.
The two signs are at opposite ends of the same line going from pure cold objectivity to deeply profound and philosophical subjectivity with holier than thou goals. While most of us operate somewhere in the middle, remember we all have Gemini and Sagittarius somewhere in our charts, we are asked at this time to consider how we operate between these two extreme points.
The polarity in our world has deepened if you watch the news. But has it? Or is it that social media and the news has just shown us what has been in existence for a long time. This month’s Full Moon polarity will highlight the messages from these two signs both collectively and individually.
The Chart of this Full Moon
Unlike many of the Full and New Moons we have had in this crazy year 2020, there aren’t many difficult aspects in this Full Moon chart. Phew, sigh of relief. But it’s still an Eclipse, it’s still super potent, it just isn’t messing with the Capricorn trio of Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto that has represented the slew of craziness we have seen this year. Nor are Mercury, Venus or Mars retrograde.
There is a good chance this Full Moon will pass and you won’t have anything out of the norm happening. Perhaps you will be a bit more quick tempered the few days before and after the Full Moon. But if you do feel out of the normal stress, or a significant event happens to you. It’s likely that you have a planet in your chart being triggered by this highly active Eclipse degree.
If you want to learn more, book an appointment with an Astrologer who can immediately see where the Eclipse is happening in your chart, and the topics highlighted based on the unique placement of planets in your horoscope.
How It Manifests in Your Life depends on Your Chart
The November 30 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse makes a super potent Full Moon if you have planets in your natal chart within 3-5 degrees on or around 8 degrees of Gemini. The quality of how that will affect your personal chart depends on the planet and house in your natal chart that is affected.
If your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn are in either Gemini or Sagittarius, and in degrees between 3 and 13, you will feel this more intensely. If you have those planets in signs Aquarius, Aries, Leo and Libra making aspects of a sextile or trine, that energy can easily flow between them. That means there are no barriers between flow of energy between the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse and the other planet(s). Because sextile and trines tend to be more mild they may present less agitation that a conjunction, square or opposition.
If your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn are in Pisces or Virgo, you may get a more challenging but growth oriented flow of energy to planets in those signs. These signs are in the square position to Gemini and Sagittarius. While they can be challenging aspects, they are the most action and growth oriented, which means something will happen and you will have a result that pushes you forward in life.
If your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn are in Scorpio, Capricorn, Taurus, or Cancer, there is a lack of commonality between the signs and the Full Moon Eclipse. It’s likely to pass by without notice. But there is also a chance you feel out of sorts with what comes your way. Like you just can’t relate, you are repelled, or you are separating from something. This would be especially strong if the planet in your chart is at 8 degrees.
And that’s a Wrap
As we wrap up this month’s Full Moon report, remember that Full Moons are a time for releasing. It symbolically represents being at the fullest, most ripe, and the end of the growth part of a cycle.
After the Full Moon it is a time of decline, the waning phase of the Lunar cycle, but not necessarily negative. Like with any plant, garden, or flower, there is a cycle. And that cycle repeats itself again and again and again. Birth, growth, ripening, decline, death, birth.
By following the monthly Lunar Phase, you get in the rhythm of life. You start to understand the cyclical nature of things rather than the linear start and end logic. Life isn’t linear, it’s cyclical. It’s the idea of what goes up must come down. Or the Wheel of Fortune, you spin to the top, you can’t go any higher, you must come down. But when you come down and hit bottom there is nowhere to go but up again. One door closes another one opens, you get the drift.
Where are you reaching the height of something in your life? What is ripe and ready to disperse. What intelligence are you holding that can be released as wisdom? How can you turn your intelligence into wisdom and share that, meaning release that, so you can participate in the most positive symbolism of this cycle?
I send you many wishes of deep pondering, meaningful chatter, and inspirational and lofty goals.
